This part of ISO 80369 specifies dimensions and requirements for the design and functional performance of small-bore connectors intended to be used for connections in intravascular applications or hypodermic connections in hypodermic applications of medical devices and accessories. EXAMPLES Hypodermic syringes and needles or intravascular (IV) cannulae with male and female luer slip connectors and luer lock connectors. This standard supersedes BS EN 20594-1:1994 (dual numbered as ISO 594-1:1986) and BS EN 1707:1997, which are withdrawn.
Part 7 Gives the dimensional requirments for Luer connectors. It also has performance requirements for parameter including fluid leakage, sub-atmospheric air leakage and resistance to separation from unscrewing. The test protocols for these requirements are given in part 20 of BS EN ISO 80369.
