Train door safety override testing
Customised engineering example
A UK train operator needed a method of testing how sensitive are the carriage sliding doors to detecting an obstacle when closing or opening. They already had a method for adjustment of the doors, but needed to measure the forces acting when the door stalls in the open or closed position, without interfering with their existing test brackets.
At Mecmesin we devised a sliding bracket to hold a digital Advanced Force Gauge, attached to the door by four quick-release suction cups. When placed across the open-door gap, the force required to open and restall the doors could be measured, allowing for speedy readjustment of the door mechanism and remeasurement.
