Customised engineering example
Due to the complex, asymmetric shapes of electrical assemblies, it can be difficult to grip the soldered, fused and welded parts in a way that mimic the forces applied when in use.
Our client manufactures safety-critical sensors and asked us to provide custom fixtures for a number of different pull-off and push-out force tests.
Mecmesin designed a fixture set based around an X-Y sliding table to hold different components under test. This ensured it was easy for an operator to correctly align the parts every time.
A pin chuck was used to hold wire filament for the tensile strength test. A cylindrical sleeve holder allowed the sensor body to be supported whilst the push-out test of the bonded pins was performed. The same holder served to fix the sensor body as the sensor cover is pulled to measure the weld strength.
