Syringe tube pull-off testing
Customised engineering example
Pull-off tensile tests require careful gripping of the separating parts in order to avoid distorting them and therefore artificially weakening the joint. The natural tendency is to grip directly on the part but sometimes it is better to take a different approach.
One of our clients needed to test the pull-away force of a flexible intravenous tube from its connector. Instead of gripping directly on the connector Mecmesin designed a very simple fork-type fixture to support below the connector. The slippery tube was held within the serrated jaws of a classic wedge-type grip. The fork-type fixture allowed rapid positioning of samples and proved a cost-effective solution.
