Customised engineering example
Familiar with three-point bending to test flexural strength properties?
Our client needed to fold a strip of insulating film tape along its length, rather than from end-to-end. Consequently, the usual 3-point flexure fixtures were not appropriate. Instead, they needed a 'blade and slot' fixture with sufficient width to suit the strip of tape.
Mecmesin designed and manufactured a slotted anvil with graduations to ensure the operator placed the strip of tape accurately each time. A polished chrome-plated blade was used to apply a compressive force to deflect the tape by a known distance. This ensured consistent and fully repeatable testing of the flexural strength.
