ISO 8113Glass containers - Resistance to vertical load - Test method
ISO 8113 specifies a method for determination of the resistance of glass containers to external force in the direction of the vertical axis. Vertical load testing, also known as head load, top-load, compression and axial-load testing, is carried out to determine a products resistance to vertical load forces.
This is commonly used to assess container glass packaging (e.g. bottles, jars, vials) which undergo palletisation, capping or stacking.
Before conducting ISO 8113, it is important to read the entire specification. Standards can be obtained from appropriate standard authorities.
